The Chris Brown/Pretty Boy Flizzy references were predictable but funny nonetheless. The Boondocks’ season 4 return?episode was good but not great. Anything less would have been simply unacceptable.Īs for me, I?m finally putting a life of controversy and troublemaking behind me with my upcoming Adult Swim show, BLACK JESUS. But it was always done with a keen sense of duty, history, culture, and love. For three seasons I personally navigated this show through the minefields of controversy. It was important to offend, but equally important to offend for the right reasons. What has never been lost on me is the enormous responsibility that came with The Boondocks – particularly the television show and it?s relatively young audience. And to quote another great white man, ?Don?t hold grudges?. To quote a great white man, ?Hollywood is a business?. Nothing is more painful than to leave them behind. Huey, Riley, and Granddad are not just property to me. The Boondocks pretty much represents my life?s work to this point.

So yeah, that’s the season and (maybe) the season. Fitting because even though this episode was the finale, The Boondocks still limped across the finish line for the season. With hot-button issues like bullying, prejudice against homosexualit,y & prejudice against disabilities, it had some high points in terms of humor but failed hard on others (The theme of this whole season). With that being said, I can say that “The New Black” felt a little like the McGruder era of The Boondocks. They are not making much noise about it and the previous season of The Boondocks was initially suppose to be it’s last. I say suppose because it’s hard to say with Adult Swim. Tonight’s episode of The Boondocks is supposed the series finale.
